Pippa Middleton Reportedly Joining NBC’s Today
Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, is joining NBC’s Today, according to The Daily Beast.
Citing an anonymous source, The Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove reported Wednesday that Pippa has signed on to the show as a correspondent after ABC also tried nabbing her for Good Morning America.
If true, Pippa joins two other members of the elite class who were signed on to Today as contributors. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, worked there for several years and Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, still does.
More from The Daily Beast:
An ABC News spokesperson, however, denied that the Disney-owned network ever offered Pippa a job, but simply asked for an on-camera interview.
NBC News–whose president Deborah Turness, like ABC News’s James Goldston, is a Brit–had the inside track on recruiting Philippa Charlotte Middleton, the second of three children of commoners and professional party planners, after she sat down in June with Today show alpha male Matt Lauer for her first-ever television interview.
The negotiations got underway months after Pippa’s network TV debut, and the deal with NBC was described Tuesday morning as experimental rather than permanent.
Pippa, 31, gained national attention in 2011 when she was seen at her sister’s royal wedding wearing a white bridesmaid’s gown.
