Prepare to Be Sad: There’s Going to Be a Capitol Hill Reality Show

We’ve only ourselves to blame for this one. The current obsession with political TV shows, of which your humble scribe is thoroughly guilty, has finally culminated in a Capitol Hill reality show starring congressional staffers.

Via Washington Examiner’s Betsy Woodruff:

Sources tell the Washington Examiner that a “House of Cards” veteran is working to produce a reality show based in the district starring “D.C. up-and-comers,” including Capitol Hill staffers. The show is currently in development, and one source said there’s already been a round of casting.

That’s extra-ironic, as House of Cards, intermittently gripping though it may be, is not exactly the most realistic depiction of D.C.

The show is currently looking for 19-29-year-old staffers to star, so if you’re prone to dramatic meltdowns and quickly-fractured personal relationships, and D.C. has not already given you proper outlets for those, you’ve found your calling.

At any rate, all of this is pointless as we all know Real World: Austin was the pinnacle of reality TV.

Bonus: Mother Jones got a secret recording copy of the casting call:
