On Monday, President Barack Obama addressed the nation and updated citizens on the unfolding details surrounding the bombing attack on the Boston Marathon. The president cautioned that not many details about the attack had been confirmed, but he assured the country that the full force of the federal government would be mobilized to ensure that any individuals responsible for this attack face justice.
“We don’t yet have all the answers, but we do know that multiple people have been wounded – some gravely – in explosions at the Boston Marathon,” Obama said.
He said that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have been mobilized to address the threat and investigate the attack. Obama said that, on days like this, “there are no Republicans or Democrats, there are Americans united in concern for our fellow citizens.”
“We still don’t know who did this or why, and people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts,” Obama said. “But, make no mistake; we will get to the bottom of this.”
“Any responsible individuals – any responsible groups – will feel the full weight of justice,” the president said.
He said that the investigation is ongoing, but that updates will be regular and the responsible party or parties will be held accountable for their actions.
