President Donald Trump says Michael Cohen has “only been threatened by the truth” in light of the news that his former personal attorney is backing out of his upcoming Congressional hearing.
Cohen is postponing his testimony before Congress, citing threats to his family from Trump and Rudy Giuliani. Cohen was expected to face questions about his claim that Trump ordered him to break campaign finance law in the 2016 election, and also why did he lie to Congress about the timeline of negotiations for Trump Tower Moscow.
During a poll spray at the White House, Trump responded to the news by saying that “he’s only been threatened by the truth.”
“He doesn’t want to do that probably for me or other of his clients,” Trump said. “He has other clients also, I assume. He doesn’t want to tell the truth for me or his other clients. Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you.”
