Protesters Disrupt Minneapolis Mayor Addressing Police Chief Resignation Over Shooting

Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau resigned today in the ongoing fallout over the police shooting of an Australian woman last week.

Justine Damond called the police to report a possible sexual assault and one of the officers, Mohamed Noor, ended up fatally shooting her.

The outcry over another police shooting––and the questions about why there was no bodycam footage––has now led to Chief Harteau’s resignation:

Mayor Betsy Hodges held a press conference tonight to announce the resignation and her nomination of Assistant Chief Medaria Arradondo to be the next chief.

But some protesters showed up at the presser and shouted her down, which included calls for the mayor herself to resign (i.e. “Bye Bye Betsy!”).
