‘Put Some Handcuffs on Them:’ Jason Chaffetz Says White House Leakers Should Go to Jail
House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) says that people who leak information about the Trump Administration to the media ought to be thrown in jail.
The outgoing congressman spoke with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week, and they discussed how recent leaks from the White House have made the investigations on Russia look worse by the day for President Trump. When asked about how a White House official has reportedly been designated as a “person of interest” for the investigations, Chaffetz said that he wants to see whoever’s responsible for the leaks to be prosecuted and imprisoned.
“I don’t care who it is. Democrat or Republican, you cannot have that happen,” Chaffetz said. “You probably ought to put some handcuffs on them and put them in jail.”
Chaffetz went on to say that the investigations of whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia should be left in the hands of the FBI and those working with the Department of Justice. Chaffetz is expected to speak with James Comey tomorrow, which comes nearly two weeks after the former FBI director was fired by Trump.
