Rand Paul, who used to strongly criticize Donald Trump, is now buying into one of Trump’s biggest campaign lies.
Trump has claimed he was against the Iraq War from the beginning, but there is no proof of that. (In fact, Matt Lauer was criticized for letting that slide last night.)
But when Wolf Blitzer asked Paul today whether Hillary Clinton or Trump is more qualified to be president, Paul said this:
“From the very beginning, Donald Trump has said that he questioned the Iraq War, and so that gives me some consolation that Donald Trump would be a better Commander-in-Chief because he at least had the foresight to see that the Iraq War led to a destabilization of the area and Hillary Clinton was on the other side of that.”
(Yes, Blitzer called him out on that.)
