Honolulu cops pushed for an exemption in state law that would allow them to sleep with prostitutes if necessary for police work. Or at least, that’s their excuse. The Red Eye panel last night had a hard time buying the explanation. Andy Levy wondered if maybe cops should be more focused on trying to protect prostitutes as opposed to sleeping with them.
Rick Leventhal said cops have enough to worry about without “not having sex with a prostitute” being one of them. Gavin McInnes pointed out one strong positive to this: “if we let guys have sex with prostitutes for years” and need to call on them later for deep cover, it’s already set!
Joanne Nosuchinsky acknowledged that sometimes cops need to engage in illegal behavior, but this seems a bit too much. McInnes put it more bluntly: “Why the hell do cops need to infiltrate prostitution rings with their penis? That doesn’t make any sense!” Drug rings are one thing, but if anyone forces you to f**k a hooker at gunpoint, just say, “I’m a really cool gay guy.”
