Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unloaded on Republicans immediately after midnight, the deadline for avoiding a government shutdown, putting the totality of the blame on the Republican-led House for adding provisions to every single clean bill the Senate sent over to fund the government and the Affordable Care Act. Reid said it is “embarrassing that these people who are elected to represent the country are representing the tea party, the anarchists.”
Reid called this an “unnecessary blow to America, to the economy, middle class, to everyone” that could easily have been averted.
Reid called on the House to “accept what we’ve already passed” and ripped Republicans “so fixated on embarrassing our president” they’ve apparently forgotten what year it is.
“They think the election’s coming this November. It happened last November. He was elected by five million votes over what Romney got!”
