On Monday morning, RNC chairman Reince Priebus appeared on Fox & Friends to share that he’s “tripling down” on remarks he made about Harry Reid being a “dirty liar” when it comes to his unsubstantiated allegation regarding Mitt Romney‘s tax history.
“It’s just the truth,” he said. “What else do you call somebody who goes on to the Senate floor and claims that someone, you know, hasn’t paid any taxes in ten years. A complete lie. Uses his official office to do it. And we all get it. He’s just playing this game and, you know, it’s amazing to me that there can be any honor in a position that he holds that he’s degraded so far down the tubes. It is what it is. I mean, he’s a dirty liar and we’re moving on. We’re moving on to defeating this President and saving this country.”
He agreed with the show’s previous guest, Donald Trump, that “we have to be prepared to play tough” and not “sit around and allow these folks to manufacture stories and information.”
Priebus also said that the upcoming Republican National Convention will be the best one yet and will offer “four days of telling the Mitt Romney story” in contrast to a President who “has a problem with the American dream” and with success.
