Last night Piers Morgan interviewed Republican Congressman Connie Mack and the exchange got a bit testy when Piers began exploring the relationship between the Tea Party and Speaker of the House John Boehner. Piers wondered how Tea Party congressmen like Mack could argue that the debt deal is terrible, yet still be supportive of Boehner as Speaker since he claimed the deal was great?
Mack denied that anyone should call for Boehner to resign and thought he was doing a good job. Especially since President Obama didn’t lay out his own plan, Boehner did well under the circumstances, according to Mack. Yet Piers wasn’t done trying to stir the pot a little:
Morgan: If he’s done such a great job, why did you stab him in the back?
Mack: I didn’t stab him in the back. Come on don’t be ridiculous with stuff like that. Now you’re just making your show a joke.
Morgan: Really why is that?
As Morgan insisted that now might be the time for the Tea Party to “take one for the team,” Mack disagreed, looked uncomfortable and concluded Piers’ suggestions were simply demeaning to his own show.
