Rep. Tim Ryan Slams ‘Insulting’ Trump Over GM Factory Shutdown: ‘He Did Not Lift One Finger’
Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) tore into President Trump on Monday for patting himself on the back over America’s job numbers, even as various companies move their productions abroad.
Ryan spoke to Erin Burnett on CNN, and she started things off by asking him about how General Motors is getting ready to shut down several of their factories, including one in Ryan’s district. Since Trump often brags that his administration rejuvenated American manufacturing and caused an explosive job numbers growth, Ryan found it “insulting” that the president continues to boast about this while thousands of people are going to lose their jobs.
“It’s insulting, and he did not lift one finger,” Ryan said.
Trump has expressed disapproval with GM’s decision, so when Burnett asked Ryan about that, the congressman doubled down by saying Trump didn’t do a thing for the workers in his district, and the president doesn’t have a real industrial policy to make their situation better.
“This president did not lift one finger. He’s got executive time all day, he spends time on Twitter, he does nothing but try to divide the country and start culture wars, and behind the scenes the American worker’s getting screwed by a company that got one of his huge tax cuts.”
