Report: Female SNL Cast Members Upset Over ‘Weekend Update’ Changes

Saturday Night Live‘s female cast members are upset over the show’s decision to use two men as the faux-anchors of the well-known “Weekend Update” skit.

The Daily News reports that after cast member Cecily Strong was replaced by Michael Che, leaving the segment with no women, other female cast members were heard complaining.

From the Daily News:

A spy overheard recent recruit Sasheer Zamata telling a pal she and some of the other players are outraged that the show’s longest-running segment is now all-male.

“She was saying that it’s bull—- that in 2014 there would be two males and no women in such a prominent position on the show,” said our eavesdropper. “She said that there should be at least one man and one woman or, if anything, two women.”

“Weekend Update,” which aims to put a humorous spin on current events, is SNL‘s longest-running skit. The segment’s other anchor is Colin Jost.
