Ret. Gen. Barry McCaffrey: Trump ‘Acting Like an 8th Grader’ in Attack on McRaven

Retired Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey defended Admiral William McRaven after President Donald Trump lashed out at him over the weekend.

In his interview with Trump, Chris Wallace brought up McRaven’s serious criticisms of the President’s attacks on the press. Trump responded by calling the man who oversaw the bin Laden raid a Hillary Clinton fan, while also asking why they didn’t get bin Laden sooner.

McCaffrey told MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki tonight, “There’s actually a comical aspect to this. Admiral Bill McRaven is probably the epitome of a heroic warrior defending America.”

He defended McRaven and his record as a “quiet professional type” before saying, “His attacks on Mr. Trump must have hurt badly, and now he’s acting like an 8th grader with this counterattack.”

Later on in the segment, McCaffrey told Kornacki that these are “inane childish attacks.”

McCaffrey recently trashed Trump’s decision to not go to the WWI cemetery in Paris and earlier this year he called Trump a “serious threat” to US national security.
