Retired LAPD Sergeant Tells MSNBC: There’s ‘Card-Carrying Klansmen’ Among Police Nationwide
Retired Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Cheryl Dorsey said on Tuesday that there are “card-carrying Klansmen” among police nationwide.
Following a clip of Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn testifying earlier Tuesday to the select U.S. House committee investigating the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol about the racist abuse he received that day, MSNBC anchor Ayman Mohyeldin asked Dorsey for her reaction to that part of Dunn’s opening testimony and “what does that tell us about that day.”
“It breaks my heart and it tells us about that day much about today is that we have a racist among us, certainly civilians,” replied Dorsey. “We expect that.”
Dorsey went on to claim “that there were police officers, they were barge carrying police officers in that group who were also probably chanting some of that same foolishness.”
There were “at least 13 off-duty law enforcement officials are suspected of taking part in the riot, a tally that could grow as investigators continue to pore over footage and records to identify participants,” reported The Washington Post.
“We should not be surprised by the things we see happening on a national level by card-carrying Klansmen who have infiltrated police departments across these 18,000 and they too need to be held to a higher standard,” said Dorsey without providing any proof to back up her claim.
