Right Off the Bat, Mike Pence Flubs the Name of the University Hosting the Debate
Candidates making untrue or embarrassing statements during a heated debate might be a given, but Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence somehow managed to make one in the usually tightly-scripted opening statement of Tuesday’s vice presidential debate.
“Thank you, [debate moderator Elaine Quijano], and thank you to Norwood University for their wonderful hospitality, the Commission on presidential debates. it’s deeply humbling for me to be here, to be surrounded by my wonderful family and Senator Kaine, it’s an honor to be here with you, as well.”
Except the debates were actually held at Longwood University. Oops.
As it happens, there is no Norwood University. There is a Northwood University in Michigan, however.
