RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel defended President Trump on Fox News Sunday this morning following the big James Comey testimony last week.
She said that Comey’s account is just “one person’s record of what happened” and said, “We support the president 100 percent.”
Chris Wallace asked her about the RNC basically setting up a “Trump war room” and she said that they’re just trying to push back against “imbalanced coverage” in their role as “the political arm of the White House.”
McDaniel said the fishing expedition “needs to end,” which led to Wallace asking if she’s calling for an end to the Russia investigations in the House and Senate. She said this in response:
“I’m calling for an end to the investigations about President Trump’s campaign colluding with the Russians. There’s been no evidence of it, I don’t think that should continue. Of course we need to figure out what Russia did with regards to the election.”
And even if Comey’s version of events is true––that Trump did say he “hopes” he ends the Flynn investigation––McDaniel said she knows as a mother that “there’s a difference between saying ‘I hope you do your homework’ and ‘Go do your homework.'”
