Roland Martin to Bolling: Obama Didn’t Play Golf While He Tried to Pass Health Care

Following the collapse of the GOP health care bill, President Donald Trump implored Congress to not take a recess or leave Washington until they got something done on health care. However, it was noted this weekend that despite Trump’s tough words to Republican lawmakers, the president took trips to the golf course.

During a panel discussion on ABC’s This Week, political commentators Roland Martin and Eric Bolling got into it over the president’s actions in trying to get the health care bill passed. With Bolling defending POTUS on his attempts to sell the plan, Martin hit back.

“He has no plan because he knows nothing about it,” Martin exclaimed. “Show me the — the times when he’s sat down with members and said, we’re going to have public testimony. Show me the rallies. Show me the town halls.”

When Bolling claimed that Trump couldn’t do that because GOP leadership kept the bill hidden, Martin noted that Republicans control Congress and the White House before taking a shot at Trump’s golfing habits.

“Let me ask you a question,” the liberal pundit noted. “When Democrats controlled the House and the Senate, did the president sit on his butt in the White House and play golf? No. He campaigned for it. He held rallies.”

“You have to have something good enough to campaign for,” Bolling retorted. “This is not good enough to campaign for.”
