Ronan Farrow to Stewart: ‘Your Tirades Against Cable News Are Exactly What Cable News Needs’

New MSNBC host Ronan Farrow dropped by The Daily Show Thursday night to promote his new show, and the 26-year-old host told Jon Stewart that he loves Stewart’s frequent “tirades” against cable news because there are times the industry really needs to be taken down a peg. He also revealed he “learned a lot” about cable news from watching The Daily Show.

After bantering a bit about Farrow’s insane academic life, Stewart moved on to his new show Ronan Farrow Daily, asking why he would want to get into that business in the first place. Farrow said, “Your tirades against cable news are exactly what cable news needs.”

Stewart replied, “The nice thing is how well they listen, they’ve really just toned their acts down.”

Stewart’s had quite the number of cable news rants over the years, with Fox News being the biggest target and CNN really up there too, though Stewart hasn’t been one to let MSNBC off the hook.

Farrow told Stewart he “learned a lot watching your show,” and explained one of the concepts behind his show is to “mobilize people” and taking people’s frustration about certain issues and giving them a way to do something about it.
