Rosie O’Donnell Blasts MSNBC On Its Own Air For Aiding in Trump’s Rise: ‘Took You Guys a Long Time to Call Him a Liar’
Rosie O’Donnell slammed MSNBC on Monday night – along with the rest of the “mainstream media” – for helping Donald Trump‘s rise to the presidency in their own way.
She did this while appearing on MSNBC
The former TV personality and recurring Trump nemesis spoke to Ari Melber ahead of the Broadway-themed protest she’s holding at the White House tonight. During the conversation, she accused MSNBC of aiding Trump’s rise because they tried to cover him like a normal politician. This turned into a more broad condemnation of reporters and media figures who, in O’Donnell’s opinion, took too long to call out Trump as a liar and a political aberration.
“I think the mainstream media is slow coming around to where they actually are,” O’Donnell said. “It took you guys a long time to call him a liar and the man has been lying every day since he’s been in office.”
The discussion continued with O’Donnell saying that Trump’s recurring feud with her was in many ways a foreshadowing of how he’d act throughout his political life. She was also asked about the time when Trump attacked her again when POTUS was asked about his treatment of women during a 2016 GOP debate.
“The worst part of that is this huge response. He’s like a bad comic who gets one line out and talks about it for four months. He told everyone ‘They laughed at that, that was the funniest thing.’ He was allowed to with help from the mainstream media and MSNBC, all you have to do is look at the tapes from Morning Joe from 2007…They all ganged up, Willie Geist was very anti-Rosie O’Donnell. So was Joe Scarborough, so was every reporter on Fox, and it went on and on.”
O’Donnell continued to say that Trump was able to feud with her the way he did because he was given a platform while she chose to withdraw from television.
“Nobody would stand up to him, and they would let him,” O’Donnell said. “It was as if only Rosie O’Donnell could’ve been the 700 girls who are missing from the border, only Stormy Daniels, only all these Mexicans he derides and diminishes every chance he gets.”
