Karl Rove Blasts Obama’s ‘Amateur Hour’: Syria Policy is ‘Unmitigated Disaster’
On Fox News Sunday, Karl Rove lambasted President Barack Obama for sending the authorization for use of military force in Syria to Congress and then heading to St. Petersburg for the G20 summit, arguing that “amateur hour at the White House” had depleted the momentum behind the strike.
“He got right up to the edge, and then on Friday has the forty-five minute walks, pulls back and heads off to Sweden and the G20,” Rove said. “The energy behind it dissipated. We now have the Syrians with god knows how many days or weeks, if the United States does take action, to disperse all of these units, to protect themselves as much as possible, build human shields.”
“This is an unmitigated disaster,” Rove said. “It’s amateur hour at the White House.”
“We also have the problem of the political advisors around the president signaling that they’re trying to jam Congress,” Rove continued. “David Axelrod tweeted out that Congress is the dog that caught the car. We have an unnamed White House official saying we don’t want the Congress to haver its cake and eat it, too. This is poisoning the relationship the President has with Congress, and he needs to have a good one to be able to get this resolution through.”
