Rush Limbaugh Mocks CNN’s Carol Costello for ‘Forgetting’ Fort Hood Shooting
Whether Carol Costello actually “forgot” the 2009 Fort Hood shootings on Monday afternoon is still up for debate; but on his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh mocked the CNN anchor for “forgetting” the murderous rampage while exclaiming her disbelief in how something so grave as the Navy Yard Shootings could occur on military facilities.
Referring to Costello as one of CNN’s “info babes,” Limbaugh scorned her for saying “I’ve never heard of such a thing happening” at a military facility. “Have you ever heard of Ft. Hood, Carol? Do you know what happened at Ft. Hood, Carol?”
He then imagined Costello responding to him, complete with a mimicked voice: “Yes, Mr. Limbaugh, I do. That was workplace violence.”
“How many people died at Ft. Hood? How many people were injured at Ft. Hood while the perpetrator was shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ while pulling the trigger?” the radio host shouted. “She doesn’t remember that?”
Limbaugh also suggested CNN reporter Brian Todd “bailed out” Costello with his response that emphasized how we’ve never seen an attack like this in this area — the “area” being Washington, D.C.
As our own Noah Rothman pointed out in his initial reporting on Costello’s remarks, it’s quite possible she was referring strictly to D.C. facilities.
