S.E. Cupp: Maxine Waters ‘Should Be Ashamed of Herself’ for Saying People Should ‘Form Mobs’

HLN’s S.E. Cupp criticized Congresswoman Maxine Waters today for her comments encouraging people to harass Trump administration officials.

She opened by saying “stay classy, America,” and recounting the brewing controversy over the Red Hen restaurant asking Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave.

Cupp acknowledged that President Trump “set the tone” but argued, “Shouting each other down, kicking our political enemies out of restaurants, heckling them in public may feel good in the moment, but it isn’t a solution.”

“In fact,” she added, “it just helps Trump and his goons claim that they are the real victims here.”

As for Waters, Cupp recounted how “she told people to form mobs” and said “the political stupidity of Maxine Waters’ comments is criminal.”

The President faced “one of the worst weeks of his term” over the child separation policy he was publicly pressured into reversing, but Cupp argued Waters took the spotlight away with her remarks:

“Maxine Waters just hijacked the news cycle and all the momentum that came with it. She should be ashamed of herself, not just for suggesting we form mobs around people we disagree with, but for diverting the spotlight off a very important issue and onto herself.”
