S.E. Cupp Ahead of Trump-Kim Showdown: ‘For the Love of God, Mr. President, Don’t Get Us All Killed’

“For the love of God, Mr. President, don’t get us all killed.”

Tonight on Unfiltered, HLN’s S.E. Cupp previewed the historic summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un for “what may be the most critical 48 hours of his presidency.”

She went over the comments from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier today, and while they may be encouraging, “no matter what Secretary Pompeo might be saying about the summit, make no mistake about it: this is President Trump’s show now.”

Before leaving the G-7 summit, Trump talked about how it would take him a minute to figure Kim out, saying, “My touch, my feel––that’s what I do.”

“That arrogance is typical Trump in some ways,” Cupp said, “but in this environment, with the stakes as high as they are, he may be setting all of us up for disappointment. History is not on his side, after all.”

She recalled past U.S. negotiations with North Korea before saying the stakes “could not be any higher,” particularly given “the President’s thrashing-about on the world stage” and how other nations will react to it.
