Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Dictator” character, the star of his new movie, really wants to make sure that people see it. To that end, he appeared on “Weekend Update” to plug his film and, in particular, emphasize how well-reviewed it was. A.O. Scott and Roger Ebert loved it! Well, they had to be tortured first, but they came around.
The dictator also brought Martin Scorsese with him, who he was holding hostage until he gave the film a good review. Once Scorsese complied, however, it became clear that he wouldn’t be released. The dictator had promised he could go, he said. “You promised me that Hugo would be under two hours,” the dictator replied.
