Sanders Downplays Concerns Democrats Will ‘Desert’ the Party If He Loses

sandersBernie Sanders tonight downplayed the concerns many have expressed that if he loses the Democratic nomination, many of his supporters will refuse to suck it up and vote for Hillary Clinton.

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny spoke with Sanders shortly after CNN’s Democratic debate wrapped, and he asked Sanders about how much more personal the attacks have gotten on that debate stage and whether it’ll hurt the chances of party unity.

Sanders first addressed the attacks Team Clinton has thrown his way before saying he seriously doubts Democrats will abandon the party.

“There are no Democrats,” he said, “that I know––virtually none––that will desert the Democratic party, no matter who the candidate is, to vote for Donald Trump or some other right-wing Republican.”
