Santorum Doubles Down On Education Remarks: Liberal ‘Indoctrination’ Is Encouraged At Many Colleges

Rick Santorum‘s latest line of attack against President Obama is that he has a vested interest in getting everyone to go to college, which makes him a “snob” who wants young people to be indoctrinated by liberal professors. Santorum defended his remarks today on This Week to George Stephanopoulos, who started out by noting that “going to college has been part of the American Dream for generations.”

Santorum argued that not everyone wants to go to college, and they have every right to find other work using whatever particular skills they have at their disposal.

“To, sort of, lay out there that somehow this… should be everybody’s goal, I think, devalues the tremendous work of people who frankly don’t go to college and don’t want to go to college because they have a lot of other talents and skills that… four-year colleges may not be able to assist them in.”

Stephanopoulos suggested this is not that far off from Obama’s personal views, but asked Santorum what he meant when he said that colleges are where young people go for “indoctrination.” He said that at many colleges, conservative students tend to be called out and ridiculed more. He also made a religious connection, saying that many students of faith who go to college graduate without it.
