Reality show producer Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor, Donald Trump‘s The Apprentice and recent hit-miniseries The Bible wants to make Sarah Palin the “next Oprah.” Conservative website Newsmax broke the news last night that Burnett had offered Palin her own syndicated daytime talk show, and sadly, Palin said no.
According to “people familiar with the deal,” the “sticking points have been over location and money.” Newsmax reports:
Burnett has insisted that Palin do the show from either New York or Los Angeles, which would require her to move for a significant portion of the year from her residence in Alaska, where she lives with her husband Todd.
Palin has a distaste for cultural elites in the Big Apple and LA, one person familiar with the discussions said.
Reached via email, Palin left the door open for the potential talk show, telling the site: “Todd and I have always loved working with Mark Burnett, and our family is always up for adventure, so never say never.”
Burnett’s production company also produced Palin’s short-lived reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which ran on TLC from 2010-2011. Palin has less experience in the talk show format, though she did make quite an impression when she guest-hosted the Today Show last year.
