Sarah Sanders Downplays Report on Pardons: Trump Lawyer Said There’s ’No Consideration’
As Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders opened the White House’s Wednesday briefing, she immediately faced questions about the new report that President Trump‘s former top lawyer spoke of arranging pardon deals with Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort.
Indications are that ex-White House attorney John Dowd was concerned about what the former Trump advisers might say to Robert Mueller, and that Dowd talked to his colleagues about having Trump extend pardon offers. When asked about this, Sanders referred to Ty Cobb‘s statement today that “I have only been asked about pardons by the press and have routinely responded on the record that no pardons are under discussion or under consideration at the White House.”
Sanders continued to refer questions to Cobb, saying “there’s no discussion and there’s no consideration” regarding pardons.
