Sarah Sanders: Trump’s ‘Done More For Bipartisanship In the Last 8 Days Than Obama Did In 8 Years’
During today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was pressed on why President Donald Trump was only meeting with Democratic leaders for dinner this evening and didn’t invite either House Speaker Paul Ryan or Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
After telling MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson that the Republican viewpoint would be present at the meeting because the president is the “leader of the Republican Party,” Sanders went on to boast that Trump was elected to do things differently.
“The idea that you guys keep trying to distort this into a bad thing is I think exactly why this president was elected,” the press secretary exclaimed. “They were sick and tired of business as usual.”
Declaring that the American people wanted someone who would “break up the status quo,” Sanders then took a shot at Trump’s predecessor while claiming Trump was bringing the parties together.
“This president has done more for bipartisanship in the last eight days than Obama did in eight years,” she noted.
