Saturday Cable Ratings: Fox Leads Syria Coverage in Total Viewers, CNN Wins Demo

In the five hours leading up to and including President Obama’s address on Syria Saturday, Fox News was the highest-rated cable news network in total viewers. From 12-5pm ET on Saturday, August 31st, Fox News averaged 971K total viewers, while CNN was second with 926K and MSNBC was third with 390K. CNN was #1 during the same time period for the 25-54 demo with 242K viewers. Fox was second with 235K and MSNBC was third with 124K.

Compared to the previous Saturday, Fox was up 49% in total viewers, CNN was up 133% and MSNBC was down 19%. In the demo, Fox was up 130% over the previous week, CNN was up 110% and again MSNBC was down 19%.

During his speech Saturday, President Obama called on Congress to approve a resolution to use military force in Syria.
