Scaramucci: If White House Comms Staff Keeps Leaking ‘I’m Going to Fire Everybody’
Days after being hired by the White House to be its new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci made the Sunday show rounds. During an appearance on CBS’s Face the Nation, the Wall Street financier told host John Dickerson that he’s going to find a way to stop leaks to the press from White House staffers.
He’s going to threaten mass terminations.
With Dickerson bringing up Trump’s tweet about pardons, Scaramucci pivoted to talking about leaks coming from within the White House and that those leaks surrounded conversations Trump may have had about that subject. He then went on to highlight the dangers of those leaks.
“I think, unfortunately, he may have had a conversation in the Oval Office or somewhere about it and then people rush out to leak that information to people,” the White House comms director stated. “It’s very unprofessional and harmful.”
When Dickerson asked what will happen to leakers under his watch, Scaramucci then discussed firings:
“They will get fired. Tomorrow I’ll have a staff meeting and it will be very — I’m not going to make any prejudgments about anybody on that staff, if they stay, they’re going to stop leaking. If the leaks continue, we are as strong as our weakest link. And I’ll say it differently in a pun. We’re strong as our weakest leak. If you guys want to keep leaking, why don’t you guys get together and make a decision as a team that you’re going to stop leaking? But if you’re going to keep leaking, I’m going to fire everybody.”
