Scarborough: How’d FSU QB Think ‘He Could Get Away with Punching a Blonde Woman?’


As the American public views on repeat the surveillance tape of Florida State University quarterback De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in a Tallahassee bar, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough had a question that’s raised some eyebrows: “What about the culture at the school… that would have a guy think he could get away with punching a blonde woman, uh, who, you know, like… the other alleged victim at the bar?”

“There’s apparently a real culture problem,” he added of the football team’s reputation for trouble.

In the following hour, as Gawker first pointed out, Scarborough reiterated his question, this time connecting Johnson’s punching of a blonde woman to former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston‘s alleged assault of a different blonde woman.

“Winston, according to the alleged victim, allegedly punched and sexually abused a woman, who fits a profile — blonde college student, it looks like from that video — of his victim,” he said. “Now why would you think that you could get away with that?”

As you can imagine, some have interpreted these remarks as Scarborough placing blonde women above all women on his protection list:
