Morning Joe‘s Joe Scarborough went in hard against Florida Gov. Rick Scott for what he viewed as egregious hypocrisy in the wake of the Florida shooting.
Scarborough lambasted Scott for kowtowing to President Donald Trump by attack FBI director Christopher Wray for the organization’s failure to act on a tip about Nikolas Cruz.
Scott, governor of the state in which Cruz allegedly shot and killed 17 students and teachers last Wednesday, called on Wray to resign as FBI chief after it was revealed the bureau failed to follow up on a tip about the gunman’s alarming behavior.
“How interesting that one of the president’s lackeys, a guy who has embarrassed himself repeatedly defending the indefensible for the president, uses a school shooting in his state to try [to disparage] one of the president’s [targets] … a guy who’s spoken truth to power,” Scarborough said.
Scarborough also noted that Scott may be living in a glass house when it comes to attacking the FBI for negligence vis-à-vis Cruz’s troubling behavior.
“According to the New York Times, Rick Scott’s own Florida social services agency made a visit to Cruz’s home after being alerted of disturbing social media posts,” Scarborough said. “So if Rick Scott is going to apply that cynical standard to all public officials, then I guess Rick Scott needs to resign at once.”
