Scarborough: ‘Snowflake’ Mitch McConnell Must Be Shocked at Trump Rally’s ‘Angry Mob’

The “lock her up” chant rang out at last night’s Trump rally, but instead of focusing on Hillary Clinton, Senator Diane Feinstein was the target of the animus from those in attendance.

In the event that the Orwellian moment was missed, Morning Joe producers re-aired a clip of Bill Weld reading a relevant passage from George Orwell’s 1984  following the chant before Joe Scarbrough called out an apparent double standard from Senate Republican leadership, namely, Senator Mitch McConnell.

“Mitch McConnell must be shocked at the angry mobs,” Scarborough mocked, adding “I mean, the poor guy, he was a snowflake just a couple days ago, just melting on national television because of all the angry mobs.”

He continued “I wonder what Mitch thinks, again, about people talking about locking up one of his colleagues, sending one of his colleagues to jail because they disagree with her politically. That’s an angry mob, right, Willie?”

Of course Scarborough is calling out the apparent differing standards between the GOP calls for due process for then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh amid allegations of sexual assault, and the chanting of “lock her up” from a crowd described as an “angry mob.”

Of course the chanters don’t really appear to be angry, they seem to be entertained by the “lock her up” chant, which makes the whole tradition even weirder and more unsettling, suggesting the next literary reference we’ll start seeing on cable news programming will be Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery.
