Schumer on Russia Inquiry: ‘I Don’t Want This to Turn Into a Benghazi Investigation’
Senators Chuck Schumer and John McCain appeared on CBS This Morning today to discuss their bipartisan push for investigations into Russian hacking.
Schumer used some very particular language in stressing the bipartisan nature of the investigation, saying, “We don’t want to point a finger and I don’t want this to turn into a Benghazi investigation, which seemed––at least, to many people, highly political.”
He said no one should “try to sweep any facts under the rug,” while McCain said there should be no doubt that this hacking took place.
Norah O’Donnell asked if they’re aware of any evidence that Russian hackers also targeted the Republicans too. Neither of them said they’ve seen all the intel yet.
Schumer also added that Trump nominees like (potentially) Rex Tillerson will need a “thorough hearing”.
