Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is about to be the chairman of the House’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee, a role he promises to assume with gusto. This, of course, excites political allies because his position allows him to take aim at the Obama administration, which he’s on record as saying is one of the most corrupt the nation has ever had. Issa appeared on Hannity last night to discuss his new role, and he doesn’t lack confidence heading in.
Issa began by calling this an “exciting time” during which we’re about to “finally take back our government.” He promised “seven subcommittees” that will do “real fact-finding,” and to “listen to the people who create wealth in America.” And certainly, things in this interview never got “testy,” as we described parts of Issa’s interview with Ed Henry. Certainly, Issa’s proponents have high hopes for what the committee will do under his direction, and starting today, the onus is on him to deliver the kind of accountability Hannity said he wants to see.
