Senator John Kennedy (R- LA) was a little more blunt than some of his colleagues today in conveying certain issues to Mark Zuckerberg.
Kennedy opened by praising Zuckerberg before telling him, “There’s some impurities in the Facebook punch bowl. And they’ve gotta be fixed.”
“I say this gently,” he continued. “Your user agreement sucks.”
Kennedy said to Zuckerberg the agreement is more about “cover[ing] Facebook’s read end,” suggesting he “go back home and rewrite it” into simple English so that the people using the platform can better understand it.
He confronted Zuckeberg over user rights to their own data, and multiple times the Facebook CEO pointed to what users are already able to do.
