This morning’s Senate Judiciary Committee meeting with Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been steadily heating up.
One of the more significant exchanges early on came between Senator Dianne Feinstein and Sessions over the subject of his conversations with President Donald Trump regarding Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s criminal case and the eventual pardon.
Feinstein grilled the attorney general over reports that Trump personally asked him to shut down the criminal case against Arpaio — in which the Arizona sheriff was convicted of criminal contempt in the course of a racial profiling case.
Unsurprisingly—in a now signature move when under oath—Sessions repeatedly declined to directly comment on his conversations with the president.
