Seth Meyers Accuses GOPers of ‘Falsely Implying’ That Christine Ford Was Missing Key Facts in Her Story

On Thursday night, Seth Meyers blasted Republicans for their handling of the two-part hearings of Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Meyers praised Ford’s testimony, calling it a “towering act of courage” and noted her “grace and composure under unimaginable pressure.” And he insisted that Republicans had to “scrape the bottom of the barrel” in an attempt to “discredit” her, pointing to a “confusing line of questioning” from Arizona sex crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell about Ford’s fear of flying. He also accused Republicans of “falsely implying” that Dr. Ford was missing key facts in her story.”

The Late Night host then reacted to remarks made on Fox News, a network he notes “spends all day parroting talking points,” specifically ones made by Fox News judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano, who called Ford “very credible,” as well as anchor Chris Wallace, who called the hearing a “disaster for the Republicans.”

“Wow, you know it’s bad when Fox News calls it a disaster!” Meyers exclaimed. “Fox News will say anything to make Republicans feel better.”

Meyers then went after Kavanaugh, who he described as “angry and defiant” and said he “stole a page” from President Donald Trump‘s “playbook” by accusing Democrats of conspiring against his confirmation, which Kavanaugh said was “revenge on behalf of the Clintons.”

“You think this was a revenge plot by the Clintons? That’s insane!” Meyers reacted. “Republicans always act like they’re in a slasher film and the killer around every corner is Hillary Clinton.”

“Republicans came into this hearing clearly trying to dismiss and discredit Dr. Ford and instead, they encountered someone whose immeasurable courage showed through their attempts to obstruct,” Meyers summed up.
