Shep Smith: ‘Stunning’ That After Years of Fighting Obamacare, GOP’s Not More United on Replacing

Fox’s Shep Smith today said it’s “stunning” that after years of campaigning on repealing and replacing Obamacare, Republicans aren’t more united on it.

Smith spoke today with RealClearPolitics co-founder/publisher Tom Bevan and said because President Trump‘s health care message was not exactly the same as the Republican leaderships, “somebody’s gotta give.”

Bevan said there’s gonna be a lot of arm-twisting going on because pretty much every single Republican has run against Obamacare for years.

Smith said it’s “stunning” that after all those years, and after winning in 2010, 2014, and 2016 after running in part on anti-Obamacare messages, “they never came up with a way to unite anyone” and “it was all words and no action.”

House and Senate Republicans are divided on the American Health Care Act, with Paul Ryan and others arguing that this is a binary choice between their way or Obamacare, and Republicans like Tom Cotton, Rand Paul, and members of the House Freedom Caucus saying they won’t settle for “Obamacare Lite.”
