Shep Smith to GOP Rep.: Why Not Wait to Hear from CBO on Obamacare Replacement?

Fox’s Shep Smith pressed Congressman Buddy Carter this afternoon on why House Republicans can’t wait to hear from the Congressional Budget Office about their Obamacare replacement.

Smith first brought up the charge from some Republicans that the American Health Care Act introduces a “new entitlement” before saying that the way to know the cost is to wait for the CBO score.

So, he asked, why they can’t wait. Carter said that Republicans “cannot stand idly by” while Obamacare is failing.

Smith asked, “You can’t wait one week for the Congressional Budget Office to score this?”

Carter responded, “Well, we can wait till the Congressional Budget Office scores it before we vote on it on the floor, and we’re going to do that. But we can get it through the committee process because we’re confident that this is going to bring about exactly what we told the citizens and promised the citizens.”

Smith also confronted Carter on the question of how many people would lose their insurance under the Obamacare replacement.
