Shep Smith to PA Police Officials: Don’t You Kind of Wish Eric Frein Had Resisted?
On his show today, Fox’s Shepard Smith interviewed some of the Pennsylvania law enforcement officials involved in the manhunt for Eric Frein, the man accused of killing Corporal Byron Dickson and wounding trooper Alex T. Douglass, and he asked a question that is leaving some scratching their heads.
“Were you surprised that he wasn’t armed and he didn’t resist?” Smith asked one of them. After a brief satellite delay, Deputy U.S. Marshal Scott Kimball started to give an answer, but Smith interjected, “don’t you kind of wish he had?”
Kimball and his colleagues seemed to understand what Shep meant, but held back. He finally answered “no comment on that one,” even though Shep assured him “it’s okay to be honest.”
Kimball did say, though, that he was surprised Frein was not armed given the fact that he murdered one of his fellow officers.
Frein was captured Thursday night after seven weeks on the run.
