Two sisters of Marilou Danley — the girlfriend of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock who lived with him before he carried out his deadly attack — spoke out in an interview that aired Wednesday on Australia’s 7 Network.
Danley returned to the United States on Wednesday morning from the Philippines, where she was during Sunday night’s shooting, and has been named a “person of interest” in the case by the Las Vegas sheriff.
The 62-year-old woman lived with Paddock in his Mesquite, Nevada home, but her sisters claim she was wholly unaware of his planned massacre.
Speaking with their faces blurred to protect their identities, one of Marilou’s sisters said, through tears: “I know that she don’t know anything as well, like us.”
“She was sent away!” she continued, referring to Marilou’s trip to the Philippines. “She was away so that she will be not there to interfere with what he’s planning.”
“She didn’t even know that she was going to the Philippines, until Steve said, Marilou, I found you a cheap ticket to the Philippines,” the other sister said.
According to CNN, Marilou lived in Australia previously, and is an Australian citizen.
