After his inaugural speech, SNL‘s President Obama met with the ghost of Martin Luther King, Jr., who seemingly only cared about Michelle Obama’s bangs and Beyoncé’s performance of the national anthem.
Settling down with a beer to cap off inauguration night, Obama met Dr. King’s ghost (played by Keenan Thompson), who told the president he has so much to discuss with him.
“Have I lived up to your legacy?” Jay Pharoah‘s Obama asked.
“First, have you seen that girl Beyoncé?” King instead asked, adding that he had to keep “pinching himself” during her performance because he thought he was having one of his “famous dreams.”
Also, King doesn’t seem to care that Bey was lip-synching… but somehow he’s learned modern lingo like “hashtag.”
King also ragged on the president for his wive’s new bangs. When she finally gets them cut, he said, Michelle will proclaim: “I can see at last! Thank God all mighty, I can see at last!” Get it? ‘Cause that’s a famous MLK quote.
When pressed for some serious advice, however, King offered up the following: “You’re the first black president, but we’re still waiting for our first black magician. There hasn’t been a black King of England. And it’s 2013, and there’s still not a single black child in the band One Direction. But tonight, enjoy yourself. You’ve earned it.”
