Last week, the real Barbara Walters visited Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update to poke fun at all the fake Barbara Walters who appeared on that show over the last 40 years. For her final day on The View, Walters invited one of those impressionists, Cheri Oteri, so she could finally interview herself.
“Barbara” said of the origins of long-running daytime talk show, “at the time, little did I know that I would be surrounded by four cackling hens, all speaking over each other where I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Later, she talks about writing his best-selling book Audition, which includes the story about “having a no holds barred sexual affair with a black man.”
As for what she will do in retirement, “Barbara” said, “I’ve accomplished so much in my career, but there are certain things that I feel like I’ve missed out on, ordinary things like, I’d like to get a Costco card.”
