Wilstein: Speaker Boehner Fails Miserably in Attempt to Prove How ‘Frustrating’ Obamacare Is
All House Speaker John Boehner wanted to do was prove how impossible it is to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Instead, he may have just done the opposite.
According to the Ohio Republican’s official website, he sat down at his desk earlier this week and attempted the “frustrating” experience:
Boehner even shared an image of the error message he received:
He then sent out a tweet with a link to the blog post and the hashtag #trainwreck:
But while Boehner’s original post claimed the process had failed, shortly after it was published he received a call from DC Health Link confirming that his “attempt” had actually been a success.
And, it turns out that not only did Boehner get a call back from the DC Health Link help line shortly after the blog post and tweet went out, but his office actually kept the exchange representative on hold for 35 minutes:
All of this proves that before you start complaining about how terrible the Obamacare sign-up process is, you might want to try a little something called patience.
Boehner’s Obamacare success story earned him a congratulatory shout-out from none other than MSNBC’s Al Sharpton, who said on his show Friday, “Congratulations, Speaker Boehner, you have reason to smile. You are now one of millions of Americans who are benefiting from Obamacare.”
