Spike TV Nixes Clint Eastwood’s Jenner Joke from Awards Broadcast

eastwoodTrouble with the Curve director Clint Eastwood cracked a joke about Caitlyn Jenner at Spike TV’s Guys’ Choice Awards bad enough that it will be edited out of the June 18 broadcast. (If you think this is a violation of Eastwood’s First Amendment rights, the comments section is down yonder.)

When introducing Dwayne “Le Rock” Johnson, Eastwood riffed about other athletes who have become actors, like “Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…” According to witnesses, the jokes got groans, and Eastwood acknowledged that producers had told him it wouldn’t work.

The producers won. “We will remove the [Caitlyn Jenner] reference in the version that will air,” the network told Hollywood Life.
