State Dept. Spox Denies Tillerson ‘Moron’ Report: ‘The Secretary Does Not Use That Type of Language’

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert today refuted the reporting that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called President Donald Trump a “moron.”

Nauert said the NBC News report — which also said he was on the verge of resigning — is false. “The Secretary has never considered resigning from his post,” she said, “and for those who want him to do so, go ahead and keep pushing, because that will only strengthen his resolve.”

Tillerson earlier today notably did not deny the “moron” comment, instead dismissing the “petty nonsense,” but Nauert rather definitively said the following:

“The Secretary does not use that type of language. The Secretary did not use that type of language to speak about the President of the United States. He does not use that language to speak about anyone… He did not say that.”

She also said that Tillerson said he spoke to the President earlier today and they’re “all good.”
