Stephanie Ruhle Rips White House For Not Letting Her Interview Anyone Working on Tax Reform

The GOP tax bill faces a major test today when the Senate Budget Committee meets this afternoon to consider advancing it to the Senate floor. Meanwhile, Republicans who support the bill, such as Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), have called for both the president and the media to spend more time explaining the proposal to the public.

After playing a clip of Cassidy saying President Trump can help sell the bill by using the bully pulpit and educating people, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle tore into the White House for not sending over any of the architects of the legislation for her to interview.

“I want to make something clear,” she stated. “Bill Cassidy is saying the more we explain this bill to the American people, the more the president does.”

Ruhle continued, “I want to point something out. It’s been 152 days since the White House has agreed to let me interview someone from the White House who’s working on tax reform. 152 days ago, I interviewed Gary Cohn. Since then, when the White House has been on this media tour, they have refused to give me a guest who is one of the architects of this bill.”

The MSNBC host also slammed the Trump administration for complaining that the mainstream press isn’t covering tax reform. “We 100% do — day in and day out,” she exclaimed.

Ruhle ended her mini-rant by stating that while Cassidy may want the president to sell the bill, Trump is being dishonest when he says the proposal won’t benefit him.

“It 100% is going to benefit Trump businesses and the Trump family,” she concluded. “Own it, say it.”
